Blue Mass

The annual Blue Mass will be held on Sunday, Sept. 11 in Portland, ME. This Sept. 11 will be the 15th Anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

There will be a procession of officers going from the Federal Courthouse on Federal St. to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Congress St. starting at 9:30 AM. The Blue Mass starts at 10:00 AM at the Cathedral.

The mass recognizes public safety members for their commitment and self-sacrifice. The Maine Public Safety Pipe & Drum Corps will be in the procession and will be playing outside the Cathedral before and after the Mass.

Plaque Presentation

On Wednesday, September 17, President Kevin Riordan presented a plaque from the Maine Police Emerald Society to Chairman Padraic O’Driscoll of the Police Emerald Society of Great Britain at Byrnes Irish Pub in Brunswick. Chairman O’Driscoll also presented a plaque from their Emerald Society to President Riordan. The Police Emerald Society of Great Britain was represented by their Chairman and 8 members of their Pipe Band and were in Maine for a week visiting members of the Maine Public Safety Pipe & Drum Corps and performing with them at Byrnes Irish Pubs and the Maine Highland Games. A fun group of people and a wonderful week of building friendships between all three groups.
